About Chad Gilbert

Candidate for Cookeville City Council

Chad Gilbert

Chad is well known throughout the community for his innovative, hardworking, and forward-thinking approach in the construction, development, and agricultural industries. Grounded in his faith and devoted to his family, he is passionate about serving the community he proudly calls home.

That pride runs deep. Chad was raised in Cookeville by two schoolteachers who instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Growing up on an 80-acre farm on Buck Mountain, he learned early the importance of responsibility — chopping wood to heat the family home and building a strong work ethic that still defines him today. He attended Algood Elementary, Cookeville Junior High, and Cookeville High School, where he formed lifelong friendships.

From a young age, Chad worked alongside his father mowing yards, eventually continuing his work ethic through college. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Tech University while working at Clinton Surveying and Sherwin-Williams. After graduating, he joined W&O Construction, gaining valuable experience in engineering and infrastructure development.

Driven by a passion for building and community growth, Chad became a founding partner of Putnam Contracting Services and Putnam Properties. While his work has expanded across the state and Southeast, his commitment has never left Cookeville.

Chad’s attention to detail, commitment to quality, and vision for thoughtful development set him apart. He currently serves as one of Cookeville’s five City Council members and has previously served on the Planning Commission and as a board member for the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. He is also an active member of his church, where he serves as a deacon.

The Gilbert family
Chad and Anna with their children — Cooper, Ali Jane, and Riley — and two of their spouses.

Chad met his wife, Anna, at Tennessee Tech, and together they are raising their three children — Cooper, Ali Jane, and Riley — in the same community that shaped his life. His children are a driving force behind his desire to serve, as he works to preserve the character and values that make Cookeville special.

Whether spending Sundays with family, enjoying time on Center Hill Lake, supporting local athletics, or working on farmland across the county, Chad remains deeply connected to the people and places that define this community.

With a lifetime of local experience and a clear vision for the future, Chad is committed to helping Cookeville grow responsibly while staying true to its roots. He looks forward to earning your support and serving our community.
